ALBUMS

The New Forest in Autumn and Winter - 2 albums of images taken in the northern parts of the Forest between October 2005 and January 2006. The poem was written during a stay in Budapest in October 1997.

Autumn is here, it can no longer be denied;

the Indian summer has now its Waterloo espied.

The leaves that yesterday were summerly espoused

have overnight, by dint of mother nature,

had their aspirations doused.

Red blushing, now they fall from lofty grace

and humbly find their natural, lower resting place.

Some sadden at dour autumn's strengthening hold,

yet my thoughts turn to leafing mould,

regeneration - from the old comes new -

by rotting down, there's next year's nurture -

and the clue.

I love the heat, the dry, the summer's shine,

but I am ready now for Autumn's quiet decline.
